Building pit protection of Roxanich’s hotel and wine cellar in BIM
Pit protection of Roxanich’s hotel and wine cellar
At the site of the old cooperative cellar, built in 1902, at the foothill of the Istrian town of Motovun, a project whose investment worth 10.000.000,00 euros has been launched.
This attractive project for the construction of Roxanich Heritage Wine Hotel and a 5-story wine cellar was introduced in October and was attended by: vintner Mladen Rožanić, county counselor Valter Flego and award-winning architect Idis Turato.
Our assignment was to perform geotechnical investigation works and to produce a geotechnical report as a basis for the main and detailed design for the open pit protection.
The open pit with a twenty meters high vertical cut will be systematically protected with 2 x 5 cm thick shotcrete and self-drilling rock bolts with the bearing capacity of 38 and 70 tons. Shotcrete, self-drilling rock bolts and drainages were modeled as separate elements.
Considering the unfavorable geological terrain and a complex excavation geometry, the main and detailed design for the open pit protection was made in Allplan.
Allplan is based on BIM technology and it enables 2D and 3D modeling. Although a high level of learning and expertise is required to work in this program, its use allows for a major step forward in business.
Some of the benefits of the program are:
• Better and more precise interaction and collaboration with architects and structural and plumbing engineers
• Architects, civil engineers, structural and plumbing engineers – everyone can work together in a single application or separately, but keep BIM working mode
• Clearer and more detailed visualization – easier identification of potential problem situations, faster project design, automatic calculation of quantity
The construction of the attractive and unique Roxanich Heritage Wine Hotel in Croatia has started, and more photos of this challenging and interesting project will be presented soon.
