Retaining Wall Remediation
The retaining wall is located in the town of Mali Lošinj, along the Veloselska street (state road DC100) next to a sidewalk of the existing road. The wall has the function of a retaining wall for a parking lot located above the road.
Cracks, as well as an inclination of the major part of the wall, has been noticed that present a risk of collapse.
On the asphalt surface of the parking lot behind the wall, cracks and dents were noticed that indicate potential instability of the terrain which could cause further damage to the wall.
The part of the wall for which the remediation is planned is 18,0 m long with a wall height of 2.70 – 3.40 m. Above the wall, a parking lotis formed up to retaining walls and residential buildings that are about 10 m away.
The damage on the wall indicates a risk in the form of a stability loss of the entire retaining structure and the collapse of soil behind the wall. The vertical displacement of the wall is approximately 25.0 cm.
Installation of the self-drilling rock bolts of 3,0 and 4,5 m length are foreseen in order to ensure the stability of the wall and the soil behind the wall.
