Geotechnical exploration and investigation works, the Brodosplit shipyard
The Brodosplit shipyard is located in the northern part of Split, in the Split-Dalmatia County. Considering no shipyard in Croatia has a dry dock, the realization of the construction of a dry dock will enable a boost in the technical-technological capacities and capabilities of the shipyard.
The construction of a dry dock is foreseen on the location of „Mali Mul“ (Small Pier) besides the existing slipway. The dry dock will be 200 m long, 45 m wide and 8 m deep. The construction of another dry dock is foreseen in a closed production hall for special objects (BSO). The dry dock is dug into the ground of 7 m in existing terrain.
For this type of dock, seawater is slowly let through the dock and at the moment the ship is afloat the barrage is opened and the ship sails off.
For the purpose of the construction of a dry dock, we have conducted geotechnical and engineering-geological exploration and investigation works. Two exploration boreholes have been executed on the location of Mali Mulin a total length of 27 m, and two boreholes on the location of the BSOin a total length of 30 m. The geotechnical and engineering-geological works consisted of geotechnical prospection and engineering-geological mapping of the location, examination and determination of borehole profiles, as well as producement of geotechnical cross-sections of terrain and geotechnical profile of the borehole.
