Geotechnical Investigation and Testing for the Jadroagent Logistics Center
The development of the Kukuljanovo industrial zone is progressing rapidly and we are witnessing the intensive construction of new facilities intended for production, logistics and sales. Among these new projects, the construction of a modern Jadroagent logistics center stands out. This new facility, the area of which will cover 10,000 square meters, is key infrastructure that will provide the necessary support for the logistics needs of the region.
For the construction of this facility, prefabricated concrete columns are being used, which are precisely manufactured and later assembled at the construction site. For the construction, we carried out geotechnical investigation and testing and made a geotechnical report.
Geotechnical investigation and testing
The geotechnical, engineering and geological works were carried out in December 2022 and consisted of:
– the geological and geotechnical prospecting of the wider area;
– the excavation of a probing pit;
– compressibility modulus testing using a circular plate;
– the engineering and geological mapping of the terrain and determination of the probing pits;
– geophysical tests
Geotechnical features of the location
Through the conducted geotechnical investigation and testing and geotechnical prospecting of the terrain, it was determined that the soil at the location is comprised of two lithostratigraphic units: a limestone bed covered with made ground deposits. These deposits were brought to the location to level the terrain to the required height for the future structures of the Kukuljanovo industrial zone.
The geotechnical investigation and testing has determined that the existing embankment at the location has good geotechnical characteristics and is suitable for the foundation of the future structure.
The features of the embankment were examined using a test circular plate on the surface of the embankment and in excavated probing pits at the location. In addition to this testing using a test plate, geophysical tests were also carried out, which confirmed the results obtained from the previous tests.
The spatial arrangement of the geotechnical units and the position of the future structure are shown on the geotechnical cross-section, which gives clear insight into the conditions of the foundation soil under the structure.
Design guidelines
After the geotechnical investigation and testing, guidelines were specified for the foundation soil arrangement and foundation. A shallow foundation with single foundations on the prepared and replaced soil within geotechnical unit 1 — Deposits was chosen. The planned foundation evenly distributes the load-bearing surface and keeps soil compaction within acceptable values.
