Detailed design of reinforced concrete retaining walls – Rijeka
The project location is in the municipality of Stari Grad, a part of the city of Rijeka, in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The scope of this detailed design is the construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls that will be used to ensure the stability of excavations carried out for the construction of an office building and its environment. The project proposes the construction of reinforced concrete retaining walls on the northwest and the southwest side of the excavation, in the direction of the neighboring houses.
The reinforced concrete retaining walls are executed in an “inverted L-shape” because of the spatial constraint. They are made of concrete of compressive strength class C 30/37, in one-sided and two-sided formwork. In order to drain the water behind the walls through the wall canvas, gauges are installed—tubes made of hard PVC or similar material with a minimum nominal diameter DN = 50.0 mm, set at a horizontal distance of 1.50 m. A concrete base of minimum compressive strength class C12 / 15 and a thickness of 10.0 cm is executed as base for the reinforced concrete retaining walls. Material filling is planned in front of the walls.
