Laboratory Testing
The Geotechnical Testing Laboratory, operating within Geotech d.o.o., specializes in precise and reliable testing of soils and rocks. These tests are essential for accurately understanding the geotechnical conditions at a site and form the basis for preparing high-quality reports and design solutions.
The laboratory performs 10 different tests in accordance with applicable ISO and ASTM standards and is accredited by the Croatian Accreditation Agency under HRN EN ISO 17025. This confirms our high level of expertise, quality, and consistency.
Key tests we perform:
- Uniaxial compressive strength (UCS)
This geomechanical parameter describes the maximum axial load a rock sample can withstand without lateral confinement. The rock is tested in a press that applies constant force until failure occurs. The UCS test is simple and widely used. - Oedometer test with incremental loading
This method is used to determine the compressibility of soil under vertical loading. The results enable the assessment of soil behavior under load, which is crucial for modeling in geotechnical software. - Direct shear test
- Using a direct shear apparatus, we determine soil shear strength parameters — cohesion and the internal friction angle. This is a quick and reliable method, particularly under drained conditions
Other methods include:
– the determination of soil moisture content;
– the determination of bulk density and particle density;
– grain size distribution analysis;
– the determination of Atterberg limits (liquid and plastic limits);
– the mechanical testing of rocks (strength, elasticity, point load index, etc.); and
– the preparation and quality control of rock samples.
