Geotechnical Exploratory Drilling
Geotechnical exploratory drilling is a key step in understanding the subsurface characteristics of soils and rocks at construction sites. It provides direct visual insight into the geological and geotechnical composition of the ground and delivers essential data for safe planning, design, and execution of construction works.
Our services include the application of different drilling methods:
- percussion drilling;
- auger drilling; and
- rotary drilling with continuous coring — the method that provides the highest-quality results in geotechnical practice.
Drilling yields a drill core, i.e., a sample of the foundation soil, which enables the precise determination of soil and rock properties. Sampling is carried out in such a way that both disturbed and undisturbed samples are collected for laboratory testing:
– disturbed samples — used for material classification; and
– undisturbed samples — used for testing the mechanical properties of soils.
We also perform SPT testing (standard penetration test) to assess soil strength and density, as well as to correlate with laboratory results.
